The rare, ancient foxtail pine trees, the unique relationship between whitebark pine trees and Clark's nutcrackers, the beauty of the steadfast trees that survive at such high elevations? For the Sierra Nevada Network Inventory and Monitoring Program, part of what makes these forests special is what we can learn from them. By monitoring subalpine forests and inventorying whitebark pine and foxtail pine trees, scientists can underst
