In the den and out of the cold! The raccoons at Maine Wildlife Park handle the coldest days of Maine's winter just like their wild counterparts- by snuggling up to stay warm and save energy in their den. The only difference is, they get fresh food delivered to their den-step by our staff! Usually a solitary species, raccoons often den in small family groups in winter, snuggled together in tree cavities, rock crevices, brush piles, abandoned burrows, and human-made structures. They don't hibernat
