Purple Invertebrate Eaters! Purple Bladderwort, Utricularia purpurea, is a carnivorous aquatic plant found growing throughout Florida in freshwater swamps, ponds, and wetlands. We have fifteen species of Utricularia native to Florida! Most of our native species have yellow flowers. This species is one of the exceptions with its small but showy, amethyst-colored blooms that appear throughout the year in Florida. This carnivorous species is in the #Lentibulariaceae family, which also includes our
