Three days before Christmas, a Georgia father who had to sue for custody of his son after the child’s mother died is calling for change. Adriana Smith, 30, was nine weeks pregnant when she experienced a medical emergency and was declared brain dead on Feb. 19. Smith was placed on life support until her son Chance’s birth four months later to comply with Georgia’s abortion law.
