On May 8, 1886, the beverage Coca-Cola was invented by Dr. John Pemberton Stith and sold the first glass at Jacobs' Pharmacy in Atlanta, Georgia. Unlike sarsaparillas in the era, Coca-Cola was not invented as a medicine. This anniversary is observed yearly as Have A Coke Day.
