Five young poets from Whittier Primary School in Peoria have been named winners of the 2025 Gwendolyn Brooks Youth Poetry Awards. The honorees are Alantis Martin, Jennifer Eklund, Jermany Ashford, Delilah Long, and Mya Watkins. The statewide competition received 867 submissions from 187 schools across Illinois.
