Roxy, is a large female tiger shark i grew up with in Hawai’i and she’s been one of my greatest teachers! Some say she looks like a monster because her jaw is half broken open. This oceanic whitetip shark we saw cruising down-current of a whale carcass the other day was dragging a thick monofilament line. I am so grateful to the fisherman who cut the line and let her go 🩵 but dangling line can still be a point of potentially lethal entanglement, causes drag, and may interfere with their lateral line and countershading; So I do my best to try to remove as much line from entangled sharks as I safely can, given my skill set specific to adapting to their behavior, freediv
