SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — A Scottsdale police K9 is on the road to recovery after being shot in the line of duty last Friday. K9 Rocco returned to Scottsdale Police Headquarters on Tuesday sporting a big cone around his head as injuries to his face heal.

Scottsdale police fatally shot a man who threatened someone with a gun; a K9 officer was also injured. The suspect, Joseph Santos, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Mesa Police Department says one vehicle crashed at the underpass on Ray Road at State Route 24. One person died at the scene, and the roadway is closed as crews investigate.
