Washington followed its first playoff win since the 2005 season with a historic divisional upset against Detroit on the road.

Washington Commanders reach the NFC championship game for the first time since winning the Super Bowl 33 years ago.

The Commanders, 4-13 a season ago, are one win from the Super Bowl after upsetting the top-seeded Lions on their home field.

From 1982 until 1991, the Commanders played in a total of five conference title games and four Super Bowls during a span that ended with three Lombardi Trophies. However, after losing to the Lions in the NFC title game to end their 1991 season, the Commanders didn't make it back to the NFC Championship until beating Detroit on Saturday night.
