The winter storm Friday night brought less snow than expected to New Jersey due to a shift to freezing rain and sleet, forecasters said.

New Jersey is under a State of Emergency as a winter storm brings snow, sleet, and ice. Travel is restricted on major highways to keep roads clear for safety.

New York Governor Kathy Hochul spoke with Eyewitness News and said the state is preparing for the storm with extensive coordination across agencies.

The storm went further north than expected, and as of 3 a.m., there were 4 inches reported in Ramsey. Snow started again around 6 a.m.

Officials are warning people to stay off the road until later Saturday because of the incoming storm, if you can avoid it.
