NYS corrections officers who have been on a prison guard strike for two weeks could now lose their jobs and their health care.

The illegal strike has ended at most prisons in the downstate region, but it continues in upstate and western New York, with thousands of corrections workers facing fines, prosecution and termination.

State officials are struggling to resolve an ongoing prison strike, with more than 30 facilities affected as correction officers protest unsafe conditions, excessive overtime, and the HALT Act’s limits on solitary confinement.

The state Department of Corrections and Community Supervision says officers who remain on strike will now be terminated. CBS News New York's Jenna DeAngelis has the latest from Sing Sing Correctional Facility in Westchester County.

New York Gov. Kathy Hochul announced an agreement late Thursday to end a wildcat strike that has roiled the state’s prison system for more than a week. Hochul said the state and the union for striking correctional workers agreed to binding terms after four days of mediation talks.

Seven prisoners died as thousands of corrections officers at dozens of facilities protested working conditions in wildcat strikes across the state.

However, the walkout continues upstate and in Western New York. As CBS News New York's Tony Aiello reports, thousands of prison workers are now facing fines, prosecution, and termination.
