President Donald Trump on Thursday announced he would nominate Council of Economic Advisers Chairman Stephen Miran to fill the open governor role at the Federal Reserve until the term expires in Janua

Miran has been a major defender of Trump’s income tax cuts and tariff hikes. He also has played down the risk of Trump’s tariffs generating higher inflation.

Miran, formerly was an economic policy adviser at Treasury during the president's first term. President Donald Trump has tapped one of his top economic advisers to temporarily serve on the Federal Reserve’s Board of Governors, filling a vacancy created by the resignation of Gov. Adriana Kugler.
