When officers knocked at the unidentified suspect’s apartment at about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, the suspect opened the door with a raised handgun, according to the police department.

On Tuesday just before 9:50 p.m., the Colorado Springs Police Department issued a shelter-in-place order for the area around an apartment complex in southeast Colorado Springs.

A judge has dismissed a federal excessive force lawsuit against a Colorado Springs police officer. The lawsuit was brought by a man who broke his neck after the officer used a Taser on him during a chase.
