At least six people are dead after a private jet linked to a law firm crashed while taking off from an airport in northern Maine over the weekend, local, state and federal officials confirmed to USA TODAY.

A private jet carrying eight people has crashed while taking off from Bangor International Airport in the US state of Maine, aviation authorities have said.

The FAA report says the aircraft “crashed under unknown circumstances on departure, came to rest inverted, and caught fire.”
