A KING 5 reporter on the scene initially estimated about 1,000 people gathered at the Henry M. Jackson Federal Building in downtown Seattle.
A demonstration was blocking traffic in downtown Seattle, the Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) reported at 5 p.m. Monday. However, SDOT announced around 6:45 p.m. that demonstrators had cleared out. The gathering appeared to be an “ICE Out for Good” protest headed to the Federal Building, as posted online.
Organizers say the rally will gather on the sidewalk in front of Union Station at 1717 Pacific Ave, running from 10 a.m. to noon this Saturday. According to The News Tribune, the protest is explicitly "in honor of Alex Pretti and Renée Good" and is intended as a show of solidarity with immigrant communities.
Protesters in Seattle rallied peacefully outside the federal building, urging senators to block funding for ICE.
