Charleston Mayor William Cogswell is asking for a roadside marker honoring Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee be moved to a militia’s headquarters on Meeting Street.

The groundbreaking ceremony of a monument to honor the story of Chinese immigrants in Eureka, who were forcibly expelled in 1885 and barred from Humboldt County for decades, was held Friday afternoon.
