After not competing in last year’s annual Fourth of July Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Competition, Joey Chestnut has announced that he will be back on Coney Island this year.

Chestnut will return to the contest in an attempt to dethrone last year’s winner, Patrick Bertoletti, who scarfed down 58 dogs and buns and became the first person since 2015 not named Chestnut to win the Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Competition. Chestnut has won the competition a record 16 times.

Joey Chestnut, considered by many to be the greatest competitive eater of all time, is returning to Coney Island to compete in the Nathan's Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest on July 4. Chestnut did not participate in the contest last year due to a dispute with organizers.
