Sports bar chain Twin Peaks starts trading Thursday on the Nasdaq using the ticker “TWNP,” making it the first restaurant initial public offering of the new year and a potential litmus test for others looking to go public.

Twin Peaks” and “The Addams Family” actor Carel Struycken and his wife, Tracey, lived in their Altadena, Calif. home for more than 12 years without ever having to evacuate, despite a few close calls.

Cherry pie is often considered an unassuming, everyday dessert. It lacks the trendiness of a cronut, the nostalgic appeal of an ice cream sundae or the sheer indulgence of a gooey cinnamon roll. But “Twin Peaks” transformed it into something greater than the sum of its parts.

Shares in the sports-bar chain opened at $17.45 on the Nasdaq on Thursday. Proceeds will be used to pay down debt and fuel expansion.

The sports bar chain, which is now publicly traded, leans on its menu diversity, service model and alcohol mix to target $1 billion in sales.
