Rayshawn Jenkins' lone season with the Seattle Seahawks was a rollercoaster. He began the season as the team's starter, missed more than a month of the season with a hand injury and then filled the team's third safety role upon his return. Now, he's been released as a cap casualty.

The Seattle Seahawks have several financial decisions to make this offseason, but it appears one has just been made for them. NFL insider Jordan Schultz announced on Twitter on Thursday that the Seahawks have granted permission to safety Rayshawn Jenkins to seek a trade.

Safety Rayshawn Jenkins, who joined the Seahawks last March on a two-year deal, has been granted permission to seek a trade, a source confirmed to ESPN.

Seattle released Jenkins on Tuesday, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports. In his lone season with Seattle, Jenkins lost his starting spot to Coby Bryant midway through the campaign and averaged fewer than 22 defensive snaps over the last seven games.

The Seattle Seahawks have released two former Jacksonville Jaguars defenders after just one season. According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, the Seahawks released a few players on Tuesday, including safety and former Jagaurs defenders Rayshawn Jenkins and Roy Robertson-Harris.

Successfully reaching 2025 cap compliance, the Seattle Seahawks cut four veteran players on Tuesday. The moves saved $27.25 million in cap room, per Over The Cap, freeing the franchise from its deficit before the free agency negotiation period opens on March 10.

The Seahawks, who still have work to do to get under the salary cap, will allow safety Rayshawn Jenkins, who lost his starting job, to seek a trade.

The team has announced it is releasing Dre’Mont Jones, George Fant, Roy Robertson-Harris and Rayshawn Jenkins. All four were acquired within the last two years, with Fant, Robertson-Harris and Jenkins added in 2024.
