Texas DSHS in a statement: "The best way to prevent getting sick is to be immunized with two doses of a vaccine against measles, which is primarily administered as the combination measles-mumps-rubella vaccine. Two doses of the MMR vaccine are highly effective at preventing measles."

An unvaccinated school-aged child in Texas has died of measles, the first associated with an outbreak that has infected more than 100 people.
The latest update comes two days after the first death was reported in a school-aged child who lived in the outbreak area.
DALLAS — More than 140 cases of measles have been reported in Texas, including one here in North Texas, and a child in Lubbock has died from the virus, health officials said. The number of cases in the West Texas outbreak increased by 22 when officials released new data Friday, bringing the total to 146.
