It’s time for another edition of NHL rumours. We’re just days away from the NHL trade deadline on Friday. There’s been chatter for weeks on what may happen.
Two of the NHL’s top teams collide Wednesday night in Vegas, as the Toronto Maple Leafs travel to face the Vegas Golden Knights.
On the opening draw of Wednesday's game, Maple Leafs forward Matthew Knies and Golden Knights defenseman Zach Whitecloud dropped their gloves in order to finish some unsettled beef. Knies delivered a flurry of left-handed punches to Whitecloud's head, before the two toppled over one another and were separated by officials.
Toronto Maple Leafs forward Mitch Marner recognized the message a 5-2 road defeat to the Vegas Golden Knights sent to him and his team, and he downplayed the notion that three games in four nights was a factor when asked if the schedule caught up with them.
The Vegas Golden Knights (35-18-6) started their five-game homestand strong with a 7-5 win against the Chicago Blackhawks (17-35-7) on Thursday night at T-Mobile Arena.
