The public overwhelmingly favors retaining the current state flag. Illinois Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias announced the results following a five-week voting period to consider a redesign of the flag.

Approximately 43% of the 385,000 flag votes submitted online since January favored keeping Illinois' flag as it is.

Currently, Illinois residents 79 years old and above need to take a behind-the-wheel driving test. New legislation would raise the age to 87.
