The Edmonton Oilers defeated the Colorado Avalanche 4-3 in an NHL Western Conference clash at Ball Arena in Denver on Thursday (Jan. 16) night. Viktor Arvidsson, Evan Bouchard, Brett Kulak and Connor McDavid scored for the Oilers.

Make no mistake, what transpired at the end of Saturday night’s game was ugly. Cross-checks to the head and neck, no matter the reason for it, are more than deserving of supplemental discipline.
Now Edmonton superstar Connor McDavid could miss games as a result. The Oilers' captain was handed a match penalty Saturday after he cross-checked Canucks winger Conor Garland in the head late in Edmonton's 3-2 loss to Vancouver.
