The Jaguars have made the decision to part ways with Doug Pederson. The move comes after three seasons and a 4-13 finish. Team owner Shad Khan shared the following in a statement:
Doug Pederson, whose offense scored 41 points against the greatest coach in football history while having a backup quarterback out there in Super Bowl LII, was fired by the Jacksonville Jaguars on Monday. Pederson, who went 4-2 in the postseason with the Eagles during his five years in Philadelphia, lasted just three seasons with the Jags.
For Doug Pederson as well as the Jacksonville Jaguars, his hire was a fresh start. Pederson had a Super Bowl win with the Philadelphia Eagles, but a sour finish there. Pederson is out as Jacksonville’s head coach after the franchise’s “best team assembled” won just four games, though owner Shad Khan did opt to retain general manager Trent Baalke. The Jaguars have lost 18 of their past 23 games dating back to last season.
