The Washington NFL franchise has undergone two separate yet polarizing rebrands over the last six years. The Redskins moniker was ditched in 2020 for "Washington Football Team," and then "Football Team" replaced in 2022 with Commanders .

The Washington Commanders will rock an alternate uniform during the 2025 NFL season and it's a nod to the franchise's past. The Commanders are calling the look the Super Bowl Era Uniform, as it closely resembles the team's old uniform and is more of a throwback than something new.

In making the announcement, the Commanders did so on the franchise's 93rd birthday and will honor the burgundy, white and gold look the team wore during their three Super Bowl victories in 1982, 1987 and 1991 when they were known as the Redskins.
