The parade was the spectacle event Trump had long wanted. It also helped sparked the largest mass opposition to him since his inauguration 145 days earlier.

The “day of defiance” protests began as early as 10 a.m. in North Texas, while the Washington, D.C., military parade for the Army’s 250th birthday starts at 5:30 p.m. Central.

Additional celebrities including Anna Kendrick, Gina Rodriguez-LoCicero and Tessa Thompson were out on Saturday to protest against the Trump administration.

The procession, with more than 6,000 soldiers and 128 Army tanks, was one Trump tried to make happen in his first term.

As a military parade rolls through Washington, DC, on Saturday – President Donald Trump’s birthday – millions of Americans are expected to protest in what organizers predict will be the strongest display of opposition to Trump’s administration since he took office in January.

Demonstrators will assemble at 11 a.m. at St. Paul College and begin marching to the Minnesota Capitol at noon, according to organizers including Indivisible Twin Cities, MN50501, Women’s March Minnesota and MN AFL-CIO labor unions.

"We don't want to cede the narrative ground to Trump and MAGA that they they own the flag, they own patriotism," said Indivisible cofounder Ezra Levin, one of the organizers. "In fact, the most patriotic thing you can do (in) America is to show up peacefully and petition your government for something better.
