George R.R. Martin and Robert Redford sat in a New Mexico jail cell last night playing a game of chess. The “Game of Thrones” author and Oscar-winning actor-director made a joint cameo in Sunday’s season three season premiere of the AMC series “ Dark Winds .”

With George R.R. Martin appearing in Dark Winds season 3, the show couldn’t help but poke fun at his ongoing Game of Thrones-related delay.

George R.R Martin is undoubtedly best known for his work on Game of Thrones and the ongoing A Song of Ice and Fire book series that inspired the fantasy drama, but both he and Academy Award winner Robert Redford are also among the executive producers of AMC's Dark Winds.
