A powerful winter storm brought the heaviest snow of the season to Connecticut Friday night, dumping up to 9 inches of snow in some areas.
High temperatures will lift into the middle to upper 30s as clouds increase through Sunday. A winter weather advisory is in effect for much of the state tonight for the potential for minor ice accumulations.

Meteorologists said the freezing rain is likely to turn to ice, which could make roads slick and cause havoc during Monday morning’s commute.
Snowfall in New York totaled around 4 inches, but short of what could have been the city’s biggest storm event in years.
Citing the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, DOT shared that in 2022 “there were 498 fatal traffic crashes and an estimated 32,213 injury crashes that occurred when there was snow and/or sleet conditions at the time of the crash. CTDOT emphasizes that preparation is essential for safe winter driving.”
Lamont announced that the cold weather protocol would run from Thursday to Sunday to protect homeless residents from "arctic conditions."
