ANN ARBOR, Mich. (WILX) - No. 15 Michigan State gymnastics scored a season-high 197.525 to defeat No. 10 Michigan, 197.525-197.425, Sunday afternoon in Ann Arbor.

EAST LANSING, MI –– Michigan State and UCLA gymnastics dazzled in front of a record-breaking crowd on Sunday, Jan. 25. 9,887 fans attended the second-ever gymnastics meet at the Breslin Center. The attendance shattered the previous program-record set in 2025 against Michigan in the Breslin Center.
Michigan State narrowly defeated Michigan 197.525-197.425 this afternoon at Crisler Center in a Big Ten gymnastics competition themed by the close finish of the meet in the last rotation. Excellent individual performances led to one of the most closely contested results in the last several years of this rivalry.
In many rivalries, the pressure builds as the year goes on – especially when national contenders collide. And an early-season matchup between the Bruins and the Spartans could be the first turn of the dial on the pressure cooker.
UCLA senior Jordan Chiles shined before a record-breaking crowd, posting her second perfect score of 2026 and a season-best all-around total to power the Bruins past rival Michigan State.
The Michigan State gymnastics team faced UCLA in a home dual meet at the Breslin Center, where they put up a good fight throughout the meet thanks to outstanding performances from their main athletes and the strong support of their fans in attendance.
