In a major update, Instagram has expanded Reels beyond mobile devices with the launch of IG for TV, a new experience that enables users to watch Reels on their TVs.On Tuesday, the company announced that the update is starting with Amazon Fire
Meta is rolling out a pilot “Instagram for TV” app — starting in the U.S. on Amazon Fire TV devices — that’s basically a living-room-friendly Reels channel surfer. Instead of thumb-scrolling, you browse “channels” and let vertical videos play on a bigger screen.
Instagram’s December 2025 update introduces a new AI-powered feature that lets users tailor their feed by showing only the Reels they want to see, giving them more control over what appears while scrolling.
“As your interests evolve over time, we want to give you more meaningful ways to control what you see on Instagram, starting with Reels,” Instagram said in its announcement. “Using AI, you can now more easily view and personalize the topics that shape your Reels, making recommendations feel even more tailored to you.”
