The obesity drug helped people trim about two inches more off their waists than Wegovy in the first head-to-head study of the rival medicines.

Those who take tirzepatide, the drug sold as Zepbound and Mounjaro, could lose more weight than those who take semaglutide, known as Ozempic and Wegovy, according to new research.

Participants who took tirzepatide — which is sold as Zepbound by Eli Lilly — lost an average of 50 pounds over 72 weeks. Those who took semaglutide — known as Novo Nordisk's Wegovy, lost about 33 pounds.
