A Dallas-area pastor is challenging Christians to rethink their position on whether to support placing the Ten Commandments in classrooms

Bills introduced by Republicans in the Texas Senate would require the Ten Commandments to be displayed in public schools and allow for schools to carve out time for students to read the Bible, in the latest effort by lawmakers in states to infuse religious doctrine in public education.

A state senator, Phil King, introduced a bill Monday requiring schools to display the Ten Commandments in classrooms. Another senator, Mayes Middleton, introduced a bill that would let schools create time for students to pray and read the Bible or “other religious texts.”
