Pedro Neto and Enzo Fernandez each scored for Chelsea, and Liam Delap had an assist in his debut, as the Blues defeated LAFC 2-0 in the Club World Cup opener for both teams. It was Delap's first game for Chelsea after completing a £30 million transfer from Ipswich Town.

Chelsea’s back line held firm, repelling late threats from an LAFC squad boosted by the introduction of veteran striker Olivier Giroud at halftime.
