EXCLUSIVE: After fighting battles for house Targaryen, Matt Smith is ready to take his next fight to a galaxy far, far, away as sources tell Deadline, the House of the Dragon star is on board to join Ryan Gosling in Lucasfilm's Star Wars: Starfighter.

“Star Wars: Starfighter” marks Levy’s directorial follow-up to Marvel Studios’ hit buddy comedy “Deadpool & Wolverine,” which raked in $1.3 billion at the global box office after releasing in July 2024 and stands as the highest-grossing R-rated feature of all-time. Deadline was first to report the news of Smith’s casting.

Deadline reported that Matt Smith has been cast to play the antagonist in the upcoming film Star Wars: Starfighter. The film is being directed by Shawn Levy, while Jonathan Tropper is the writer. Besides Smith, it will also star Ryan Gosling and Mia Goth.
