Geopolitical dynamics played a visible role in a major aircraft deal announced at the Paris Air Show, where Airbus (OTCPK:EADSF) (OTCPK:EADSY) secured a major order from Poland's LOT Polish Airlines and displaced longtime supplier Embraer (NYSE:ERJ) in the process,

Airbus sealed a landmark order for 40 A220 jets from Polish national carrier LOT on Monday, marking the airline’s largest-ever investment and signalling a broader reset in political ties between Poland and France.
LE BOURGET—LOT Polish Airlines is switching its large regional fleet from Embraer E1s and E2s to the Airbus A220, a decision that opens up the opportunity for the airline to offer more capacity with a single type.
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk commented on Polish airline LOT's purchase of Airbus planes on Platform X. According to him, this is the largest investment in the history of the Polish national carrier. "We are creating a leader of air transport in Europe," Tusk wrote in his post.
Embraer has signalled that it believes the LOT selection of the Airbus A220 over its E2 regional jets was influenced by political considerations. LOT has chosen to take 40 A220s - a mix of -100s and -300s - to replace its Embraer fleet,
LOT said the A220s will gradually replace its existing regional aircraft fleet, which primarily comprises Embraer E1s. Fijoł said LOT’s E2s will “stay for as long as possible,” but will ultimately also be replaced.
