Alien: Earth shares an unfortunate number of qualities with a pretty terrible sci-fi streaming series, but there may be hope for Noah Hawley's Alien show yet.
Earth” ends with a five-star, no-notes needle drop (or choice of a pre-existing song). A tone of dread has been set throughout the episode, in which we learn that corporations, technology, and military rule in this future world.
In Episode 2 of Alien: Earth, Morrow successfully fought off the Xenomorph, for the time being, with a taser rifle and a net fabricated from artificial webbing. This act was extremely helpful, as it saved Hermit’s life when the Xenomorph was about to take him.
Alien: Earth might have already done something that the folk at Lumon Industries in Severance have been building towards.
Earth doesn’t settle for unleashing the franchise’s signature acid-blooded terror on a new stage. It drags an entire menagerie of extraterrestrial nightmares down to our planet.

The series is dark, gory, and its social commentary is all-too-relevant to modern issues, despite its futuristic setting. It’s hard for any TV series to live up to pre-release hype, and if that show is set in an established franchise,
Alien: Earth is a welcome return to the insanity of the franchise after the last entry played things so awfully safe.
