The Atlanta Braves' injury-depleted starting rotation is adding more reinforcements after acquiring Carlos Carrasco from the New York Yankees.

NEW YORK — The Yankees traded away one of their Triple-A starters on Monday afternoon, shipping veteran Carlos Carrasco to the Braves for a player to be named later. Carrasco had been in Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre for much of this summer, sticking around multiple times after being designated for assignment.

The Diamondbacks lost two of three games to the Pirates in a weekend series at PNC Park as their slide out of contention continued. That followed the Diamondbacks getting swept in a three-game series by the Houston Astros in Phoenix that signaled general manager Mike Hazen was going to be a seller rather than a buyer by Thursday’s MLB trade deadline.

The Diamondbacks appear to be taking concrete steps towards an eventual Eugenio Suarez trade involving either the Tigers or Yankees.
